Topic : Introducing my self and my family (using simple present tense)

Learning for 1st semester of English Department
- Standar Competence : At the end of the course, students are expected to able to have good competence and capabilities in speaking skill for introducing them selves and their family.
- Basic Competence : Students understand to use the simple present tense in introducing my self and my family
- Indicator : Students are able to demonstrate about introduce my self and my family using simple present tense in front of class
When we study about grammar, we should memorize and understand it by practicing our grammar in daily activities and introducing, like introducing our self, talking about our family and others. In other hand, grammar could improve our speaking skill to be better in our sentence. Now, how the way to do it? Let's check below
- Activity a :make a small group to study and discuss about present tense, then share what the kind and difficult from present tense. Like : memorizing the formula of present tense with another friend
- Activity b :write a brief autobiographical paragraph telling who you are and your family. Describe your life and the structure of your family by using present tense.Example : I am Diana. My hobby is traveling. Everybody says that I am beautiful, because I have baby face, my nose is sharp, and my hair is black shine. I have big lovely family. They are my mother, my father, my grand mother, my grand father, my young brother, my aunt, my uncle and my cousin. My parents have 2 child. They are my young brother and me. My young brother's name is Ariel. I have another young brother, he is my cousin, and his name is Reza. He is my uncle child. My mother and my uncle are my grandfather child. I love my grandfather and my grandmother, because they always visit me in boarding school.
- Activity c :don't forget to demonstrate your writing about family to your friend by using the creative media, like using wayang for describing your life and your family's structure. This wayang includes your picture and your family picture. Then, tell your friend about present tense in short explanation and give them example about present tense in your story about your self and your family by using wayang.

Introduce my self
and my family tells about how to introduce to the listener about our
life and the structure of our family. The aim from this topic is to
make students more easy in giving example sentence of present tense
and could encourage students to introduce them selves in good
sentence with using true grammar.
Simple Present Tense
In general, the
simple present tense expresses events or situations that exist
always, usually, habitually, they exist now, have existed in the past
and probably will exist in the future. (Understanding and Using
English Grammar by Betty Azar).
Simple present tense
the tense of a verb that expresses action or state in the present
time and is used of what occurs or is true at the time of speaking
and of what is habitual or characteristic or is always or necessarily
true, that is sometimes used to refer to action in the past, and that
is sometimes used for future events (Meriam Webster)
Simple Present Tense
is the tense used to express an action or activity that takes place /
happening at the current time in a simple form, activity or work
performed repeatedly, daily habits, events or actions that have
nothing to do with time, and to express general truths.(another
